Bengaluru,

Disappointed
by the lack of progress by Home Department in granting them permission to
operate their business round the clock, Bruhat Bengaluru Hoteliers' Association
(BBHA) on Saturday said that they are now considering legal action to obtain
the necessary approvals.
On 27
September, Karnataka government announced that commercial establishments and
shops employing ten or more people would be permitted to operate around the
clock. However, Bengaluru Police Department is yet to grant consent for this
policy, leaving hoteliers confused.
President
of the BBHA told Salar News that they had met with the Deputy Chief Minister DK
Shivakumar and Home Minister G Parameshwar multiple times regarding the
request. But the police department still remains hesitant to provide them the
necessary permission even after the announcement made by the Home Minister.
However
Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda said that the authority to grant
permission lies with the government and not the police department.
BBHA said
that if hotels were open round the clock, it would prove to be convenient for
people who work night shifts such as cops, medical staff, auto rickshaw drivers
and cabbies who could stop for a meal and a toilet break during or after their
working hours. They also demanded industry status for their sector and other
measures that would enable ease of doing business. -Salar News
