Beacon of light: Archbishop mourns Pope Francis death

The Archbishop said the Archdiocese of Bengaluru joins the Universal Church in mourning of the 266th pope of the Catholic Church.

BENGALURU, 21 APRIL

Condoling Pope Francis death, City Archbishop Peter Machado called the pontiff a "beacon of light in troubled times" and "a shepherd of the poor".

The Archbishop said the Archdiocese of Bengaluru joins the Universal Church in mourning of the 266th pope of the Catholic Church.

"Today, the world has lost not just the Supreme Pontiff, but a man of prayer, simplicity and immense compassion," he said.

Meanwhile, Legislative Assembly UT Khader also expressed his condolences. He said “On behalf of the Members of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and the people of our state, I extend our deepest sympathies to the Catholic community and the Holy See. As the world mourns his passing, we pray that his soul may rest in eternal peace, and that his legacy of mercy and unity may continue to illuminate the path forward for humanity.”
