Bengaluru, 1 May

Head Constable Afroz Khan of Attibele Police Station alleged that he was assaulted by fellow policemen from Govindarajnagar and later denied the right to file a complaint.

The incident reportedly occurred on 27 April near the Attibele toll gate. According to Khan, a group of Govindarajnagar officers had stopped several vehicles near the toll. His son, Ali Azgar Khan, who had come on a bike to visit a nearby bakery, was allegedly blocked, questioned for vehicle documents, and then physically assaulted despite showing valid papers.

Upon receiving a call from his son, Khan rushed to the scene and questioned the officers about the alleged assault. The situation escalated when the officers, reportedly including Sub-Inspector Guruprasad, ASI Hanumagowda Patil, and constables Arjun Kamble, Prasanna, and Suresh, allegedly abused him, snatched his phone, and physically attacked him. Khan claims he was then forcibly taken away in a vehicle and threatened with death.

CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, but police have yet to take any action. Khan alleges that his attempts to file a complaint were blocked by senior officials at Attibele Police Station, including Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohan Kumar and Inspector Raghav, who he claims refused to register the case.

When Salar News contacted the Attibele police, a senior officer denied Khan’s allegations, stating that the complaint was not refused and that the matter is currently under discussion.

Khan has said he plans to meet Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda to demand an internal probe into the incident.
