Deputy Commissioner G Lakshmikanth Reddy on Wednesday directed the district administration officials to make necessary preparations to ensure smooth celebrations of Chamundeshwari Vardhanthi and the four Ashada Friday celebrations which will be held at Chamundeshwari temple atop Chamundi Hills.

This year, the Ashada Fridays will be held on 27 June and 4, 11 18 July, and the Chamundeshwari Vardanthi will be held on 17 July, he said

Reddy also instructed the officials to prevent the entry of all private vehicles and arrange free public transport facility from Lalitha Mahal Helipad grounds to the temple.  He asked the police to make security arrangements and plan for traffic and crowd management. 

The DC also asked Mysuru city corporation to maintain cleanliness and ensure availability of drinking water during the celebrations. He has entrusted the responsibility of lighting arrangements at all temples and streets atop the hill, including the 1000 steps.   

Entry is free for all devotees during on all Saturdays and Sundays during the festivities. However, Rs 300 will be charged for special darshan and Rs 50 for special entry, Reddy said.
