BMTC bus hits five pourakarmikas in Majestic two severely injured after driver reportedly dozed off investigations are ongoing

A Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus on Thursday morning rammed into five Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) pourakarmikas, severely injured two near Sangolli Rayanna Circle in Majestic here.
The driver reportedly felt drowsy while driving, possibly due to fatigue and lost control of the vehicle.
According to the police, the bus was en route from Majestic to Hebbal when it hit a road divider and then struck the pourakarmikas engaged in their morning duties.
The injured were identified as Shamim, 23, and Hussain, 35, both hailing from Uttar Pradesh. Shamim reportedly suffered a spinal injury and dental fractures. Hussain sustained critical wounds.
Initially rushed to KC General Hospital, they were later shifted to a higher facility for specialised care. The other three pourakarmikas sustained minor injuries.
The Sangolli Rayanna Circle’s grill, an electricity pole and the bus’ front portion were also damaged under the impact of the collision. The bus driver and conductor are undergoing treatment for minor injuries.
Investigations are underway and the police are examining CCTV footage. The BMTC is yet to issue a statement.
