In a shocking case of alleged road rage and robbery, a businessman was assaulted and robbed of his luxury car and valuables worth over Rs 56 lakh in the upscale Lavelle Road area during the early hours of 3 May.

The victim, Vinay Gowda, a resident of Papanna Street on St Mark’s Road, reported that the incident occurred around 4.15am as he was taking his car out of the basement of East Grand Apartment. His vehicle accidentally brushed against a roadside car belonging to a woman identified as Deepthi.

A verbal spat ensued, following which Deepthi allegedly called two of her associates. As per the FIR, the trio assaulted Gowda and drove off in his car, which contained Rs 1.25 lakh in cash, a pair of sunglasses worth Rs 85,000, and a wallet valued at Rs 1.5 lakh. The stolen vehicle itself is valued at Rs 6.14 lakh.

Gowda claims that when he pleaded for his car’s return, Deepthi demanded Rs 20 lakh as compensation for damage to her car. He has lodged a complaint with Cubbon Park Police, seeking action for assault, theft, and criminal intimidation.

Police have registered a case and are reviewing CCTV footage. Investigations are underway.
