Bengaluru 10 May
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has imposed a one-day ban on animal slaughter and meat sale across Bengaluru on Monday, in observance of Buddha Purnima. All slaughterhouses and meat shops within the BBMP limits must remain closed. The civic body’s Animal Husbandry Department stated the move is to respect religious sentiments. Officials warned of action against violators, with routine checks to ensure compliance. Such bans are routinely enforced during major religious festivals.
