A gang of five youths allegedly attempted to murder another youth by brutally attacking him with weapons over an old rivalry at Udayagiri in Mandya, on Friday night. According to Police, the injured youth was identified as Kiran,26, resident of Udayagiri. He is at Victoria Hospital in the City, battling for his life. The five have been identified as Vardhan, Varun, Manu, Govindraju and Madan residents of Mandya. Kiran and Vardhan, who were push cart vendors in the City, had a fight between them over business. Kiran, who was serving three months in jail for a petty case, was released three days back. The two had another fight on Friday, where the accused five attacked him when he was sleeping at his godown in Udayagiri.
