Bengaluru, 10 May

Unidentified burglars stole gold and diamond jewellery worth ₹50 lakh from a locked house in SSA Layout, Yelahanka New Town, by smashing the rear safety grill.

The theft came to light on 5 May night when the homeowner, Duru Jaswal, returned from a vacation in Mysuru. She found the back grill broken and the cupboard inside the house pried open. Around 350 grams of gold and diamond ornaments were missing.

Yelahanka New Town police were alerted immediately. A dog squad and forensic team visited the scene, and CCTV footage from nearby streets is being analysed.

Speaking to Salar News, a senior police officer said that, as per preliminary evidence, the house was specifically targeted during the owner's absence, suggesting a prior recce. Police suspect more than one person may have been involved and are pursuing multiple leads.
