Bengaluru, 10 May
A late-night party in Venkateshwara Layout turned tragic when a 28-year-old techie was bludgeoned to death with a cement brick following a drunken argument.
The incident occurred around 10pm on Friday on the terrace of a residential building on 18th A Cross, under Madiwala Police jurisdiction.
The deceased, Martin Simon, had been living with his family on the second floor of the building for five years and was employed at a Bengaluru software company. The accused, Vincent Raju, 26, had been residing in the same building for over a year. The two were reportedly close friends.
Police said the duo were drinking on the terrace when a quarrel broke out, allegedly fuelled by alcohol. The verbal altercation escalated into a physical brawl, during which Raju allegedly struck Simon on the head with a cement brick, killing him instantly. He fled the scene thereafter.
Hearing the commotion, other residents rushed out and reportedly saw Raju running away. They discovered Simon lying in a pool of blood and alerted the police.
Madiwala police arrived, questioned the victim’s family, and sent the body to St John's Hospital for a post-mortem. A murder case has been registered, and a man hunt is on to nab the suspect.
