A car driver who allegedly fled with Rs 1.51 crore of his employer’s money was arrested by City police after a brief disappearance, during which he went on a temple-hopping tour with his wife.
The accused, 45-year-old Rajesh from Andhra Pradesh, had been working for over 10 years with a chartered accountant based in Kodandarampura, Malleswaram. He hadāā earned his employer’s complete trust over the years.
According to police, Rajesh was given Rs 1.51āā crore in cash to deposit in a bank. However, instead of completing the task, he fled with the money. Investigations revealed that he hid Rs 1.48 crore in his house and took Rs 3 lakh to go on a pilgrimage with his wife. The theft came to light when the employer visited the bank and realised the money hadn’t arrived. After several failed attempts to reach Rajesh by phone, a complaint was filed at the Vyalikaval Police Station.
