Villagers at Hallare village in Mysuru district on Thursday staged a protest, demanding stringent action against miscreants who had desecrated posters of BR Ambedkar.
Miscreants reportedly tore Ambedkar’s posters, splashing them with cow dung and mud on the night of 14 May when the power supply to the village was disrupted.
Villagers of Hallare sat in protest at their village circle demanding stringent action against those indulging in such activities. They claimed that the miscreants took advantage of the darkness to damage the posters.
In 2024 people belonging to Scheduled Castes clashed with those belong to the Scheduled Tribes over installation of Ambedkar Youth Association’s nameplate
The police had filed an FIR against 30 persons of the Nayaka community. A peace meeting was also held.
Nanjangud MLA Darshan Dhruvanarayan and HD Kote MLA Anil Chikkamadu resolved the issue.
Meanwhile, the police rushed to the village and made security arrangements. A case has also been registered.
