A police escort vehicle skidded off a rain-soaked road and overturned near BR Hills in Yelandur taluk on Wednesday evening, seriously injuring Yelandur PSI Akash and driver Prathap. The incident occurred as the convoy of district minister K Venkatesh was returning from a visit to the Sericulture Research and Extension Centre. The minister, who also oversees Sericulture and Animal Husbandry, had been reviewing activities at the centre. Both injured personnel were rushed to a private hospital in Mysuru for treatment. The minister was not in the affected vehicle and was unharmed. Heavy rainfall in the region is believed to have caused the vehicle to skid.
