Fiza Fathima, daughter of carpenter Chand Pasha and homemaker Nusrath Fathima, has topped the commerce stream in the 2nd PUC exams across Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) colleges with a score of 582/600 (97 per cent). The results were announced on 8 April.

A student of BBMP PU College for Girls, Robertson Road, Frazer Town, she is the first rank holder of her college and scored a perfect 100 in both Business Studies and Computer Science.

Fiza dedicated 13 hours a day to her studies — 5.5 hours in college and 7.5 hours at home. Despite her hard work, she faced a setback during her Business Studies examination where she mistakenly wrote the answers incorrectly and was not allowed an additional answer sheet. “I cried a lot because I had worked so hard,” she told Salar News. However, she was later appeared for the improvement exam, and seized the opportunity, scoring a perfect 100.

“My parents were overjoyed when they heard about my score. They couldn’t stop smiling. My dad gave me a big hug and congratulated me. Their pride made all my efforts worthwhile,” she said.

Fiza now dreams of pursuing BCA, gaining IT experience, and eventually becoming a teacher.
