Bengaluru, 27 May

High Grounds police have registered an FIR after Geetha Vishnu, the grandson of prominent politician and industrialist DK Adikesavulu, alleged that he was attacked at a luxury hotel gym over a trivial issue.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred around 8pm on 19 May inside the gym at Shangri-La Hotel. Vishnu was reportedly changing clothes after a workout when a drop of his sweat allegedly splashed on another gym user, identified as Syed Sadiq.

The incident sparked a heated argument, during which Sadiq allegedly abused Vishnu and punched him near the eye. He also reportedly threatened to kill him if seen again in the gym or elsewhere.

Police have booked Sadiq based on Vishnu’s complaint and are investigating the case.

Vishnu said the assault was premeditated. He said that two weeks earlier, he had an altercation with Congress Youth Wing President HS Manjunath in the hotel's sauna. Sadiq was reportedly among the group present then. He termed the attack a misuse of political power rather than a personal dispute.

The police said that the investigation is on, and notices have been sent to those involved in the incident. Further details will emerge following a detailed investigation, they said.
