IndiGo signs deal with BIAL for MRO facility in the City
IndiGo currently operates MRO facilities in Delhi and Bengaluru.

IndiGo has announced an initial agreement
with Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) to establish a maintenance,
repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility at Bengaluru International Airport. The new
facility will occupy approximately 31 acres and will enhance IndiGo's
capability to maintain both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft, supporting the
airline's growing fleet, according to a company statement.
IndiGo's CEO, Pieter Elbers, emphasised
that this partnership signifies a strategic move towards developing the
airline's maintenance capabilities while reinforcing Bengaluru's position as a
key aviation hub. He stated, "This collaboration is a pivotal step towards
building a significant global presence for IndiGo and India."
BIAL's MD and CEO, Hari Marar, welcomed the
agreement, highlighting the long-term relationship between the two
organisations and the prospects for growth at Bengaluru Airport. He expressed
gratitude to the Government of Karnataka for its support in facilitating the
collaboration.
In addition to the MRO facility, the initial pact includes plans for broader cooperation in network expansion, infrastructure development, and joint marketing initiatives, reflecting a shared commitment to enhance aviation infrastructure in the region. IndiGo currently operates MRO facilities in Delhi and Bengaluru.
