Bengaluru, 5 June
Most people injured in the stampede outside Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium have been discharged, with the remaining patients out of danger, hospital authorities confirmed on Thursday.
At Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, 18 people were treated following the incident. Of the 10 admitted, only two remain hospitalised, according to Medical Superintendent Dr T Kemparaju.
“Most were treated for minor scrapes, anxiety and breathing difficulties. One patient with a fractured leg and a 14-year-old boy with a minor injury near his right eye are still under care,” he said. The boy is under observation due to the injury’s proximity to his eye but is expected to be discharged by Friday.
His mother, Farheen, said her son remains frightened and confused. His uncle, Nawaz, revealed they were unaware he was heading to the RCB victory parade. “He told us he was meeting friends. Later, we were informed by the hospital that he had fallen unconscious and was admitted.”
At Vydehi Super Specialty Hospital, four people were brought dead, and of the others admitted, only two remain under observation. A hospital spokesperson noted that while injuries were mostly minor, some patients are still in shock and are being monitored by the neurology department.
