BENGALURU, 16 JUNE

The State government, in collaboration with Bengaluru Airport City Ltd. (BACL) and ANSR, has unveiled the Global Innovation Hub, District I, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing India’s innovation ecosystem on a global scale. Located within BACL’s expansive Business Park, District I is designed to accelerate deep-tech entrepreneurship, enterprise-driven innovation, and the commercialisation of academic research.

The hub will concentrate on advanced technologies including artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, blockchain, and customer experience technologies. It aims to drive innovation in key industries such as aerospace, space technology, smart cities, retail, banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), manufacturing, telecommunications, and defence—sectors where Bengaluru is already a frontrunner owing to its robust technological infrastructure.

District I is set to be a crucial component of Bengaluru Airport City’s planned 28 million sq. ft. Business Park, envisioned as a world-class, mixed-use urban destination featuring state-of-the-art research and development hubs, alongside a dedicated Education and Health District, and a lively array of hospitality, entertainment, and lifestyle offerings.

“The City has always led in India’s tech evolution. With the Global Innovation Hub, we are establishing a platform that unifies the ecosystem to collaborate, innovate, and lead on a global scale. This is a significant step toward positioning Bengaluru as the world's next major innovation capital,” stated Ekroop Caur, Secretary of the Karnataka Department of Electronics, IT, BT, and S&T.
