BENGALURU, 31 JULY

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has got evidence for his allegation regarding the modus operandi for “vote theft” during the Lok Sabha polls in the state last year.

Amid the raging row over the revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, Gandhi on  23 July had alleged that elections are being “stolen” in the country and claimed his party has figured out the modus operandi of the “vote theft” by studying a Lok Sabha constituency in the State.

Gandhi will participate in a protest in Bengaluru on 5 August and submit a representation to EC officials in this connection.

“Rahul Gandhi has got evidence. He is coming here to protest and to meet the Election Commission officials in Karnataka,” Siddaramaiah said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said, “BJP did election fraud using data collected by private firm Chilume, our national leaders will talk about it. Rahul Gandhi isn’t coming here for political reasons; he will be here to tell people how the elections are rigged. We must stop the Election Commission from becoming a wing of a political party… We will decide on the format of the 5th August protest in consultation with the national leadership,” he said.
