BENGALURU, 6 AUG

Spunklane Media Private Limited, which owns web portal The News Minute (TNM), has approached the Karnataka High Court challenging two separate gag orders that it claims have been used to curb its reporting on the Sowjanya murder case and the Dharmasthala mass burials.

The petition alleged the gag orders posed a “serious threat to press freedom”.

TNM claimed it received notices to take down three stories and a post on X, with the plaintiffs citing the court's order and invoking the 'John Doe' classification. Although TNM complied with these requests, it received another request to take down another video, which it objected to.
