State govt offers novel study abroad programme

Karnataka will host its International Study Abroad Fair on 17 Aug, offering scholarships, travel aid, and post-arrival support for students at over 50 top global universities.

BENGALURU, 13 AUG


The Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation (KVTSDC), under the Department of Skill Development, will hold the International Study Abroad Fair – 2025 on Sunday, 17 August, at Hotel Lalit Ashok. The event will feature representatives from over 50 universities ranked among the top 500 globally.


Sharanprakash R Patil, Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development, said that the initiative aims to make higher education abroad more accessible to students from all sections of society. 


Speaking at Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday, he urged students, parents and educators to make the most of this opportunity, calling it a “gateway to global education that leaves no one behind.”


This initiative ensures assistance even after they arrive in the country—covering welfare, academic progress and legal aid. 


The offers include: Bangor University (UK): Scholarships up to Rs 3–5 lakh, one economy-class air ticket, plus two 50 per cent tuition fee scholarships; University of North Texas (USA): Scholarships worth Rs 8–10 lakh, James Cook University (Australia): Scholarships worth Rs 8–10 lakh, Curtin University (Singapore); Scholarships up to Rs 5 lakh, Murdoch Dubai (UAE): Scholarships up to Rs 5 lakh, and GISMA University of Applied Sciences (Germany): Scholarships up to Rs 10 lakh.
