The State Congress leaders have sharply criticised the Union Cabinet's recent approval of semiconductor manufacturing facilities in Odisha, Punjab, and Andhra Pradesh, claiming the Centre favours BJP-ruled states over national interests. Chief Minister's legal advisor AS Ponnanna stated the "BJP government prioritises political gains over national interest," citing the yellow metro line project as evidence of their politicking.

Congress leader Rizwan Arshad accused the central government of compelling technology companies to invest in "friendly states" like Gujarat, alleging that a semiconductor factory for Telangana was "blackmailed" into relocating to Andhra Pradesh. He condemned the perceived discrimination against Southern states.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar also weighed in, criticising Prime Minister Modi for praising the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in his Independence Day speech, stating, "RSS doesn't have any history. The Congress party has a longer history in this country." He emphasised that the Congress has always protected the Constitution and claimed that RSS didn't hoist the national flag for a long period.

While Congress leaders voiced their concerns, Union Ministers and industry representatives welcomed the Cabinet's decision, highlighting the government's focus on enhancing India's semiconductor capabilities.

Meanwhile, Union Ministers welcomed the Cabinet’s decision as a positive development.
