The State BJP announced on Monday its intention to approach the State Election Commission (SEC) over allegations of vote-buying linked to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. BJP President and MLA BY Vijayendra referred to remarks made by former Congress leader CM Ibrahim and an alleged audio clip featuring Congress MLA Shivalinge Gowda discussing vote purchasing. “The BJP will take up this issue seriously… We will demand a thorough investigation,” Vijayendra stated.
“Maybe by tomorrow or the day after, we will approach the State Election Commission and demand a thorough investigation,” Vijayendra said.
Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of colluding with the ruling party, saying, “The ECI’s credibility will remain in doubt until it honestly fulfils its duty of safeguarding every citizen’s vote.”
He dismissed the ECI’s claims regarding electoral roll revisions and expressed concern over mismatches in voter data brought to light by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
