A viral video by Canadian YouTuber Caleb Friesen, highlighting poor pavement conditions in Bengaluru, prompted swift action from the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA).
In the 30-minute video shot on Thursday, Friesen documented the difficulty of walking a 2.4 km stretch from the Majestic bus stand to a nearby coffee shop, drawing public criticism over civic negligence.
Following the clip, GBA, along with an NGO and volunteers, organised a footpath cleaning and repair drive. Bengaluru Central City Commissioner Rajendra Cholan joined the team on Saturday, motivating volunteers and sharing snacks with them.
GBA shared before-and-after photos of the cleanup on ‘X’, highlighting the intensive effort around the Majestic area. Friesen thanked the authorities and praised the initiative, posting images showing the restored pedestrian path.
The vlogger also visited the site during the drive and recorded another clip appreciating the swift action that made the footpaths safer and usable for residents.
