Home Minister G Parameshwara played down the closed-door meeting between him, Social Welfare Minister HC Mahadevappa, and Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi, saying that it was a "casual and a non-political" meeting. The meeting had created a buzz amid rumours about a Cabinet reshuffle and a change in Chief Minister.

"There is nothing. I don't know how you see it. We have met normally, this was not the first time. Several times we friends meet to discuss several issues. They are not political meetings," Parameshwara said. "It was a casual meeting. There is nothing in it...We have held several such meetings. This is not the first time. Earlier we have had meetings at Satish Jarkiholi's house, Mahadevappa's house. This is not new."

There was a cabinet meeting on Thursday and some subjects were sensitive, so we discussed over breakfast, he added.

Parameshwara also termed the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's banquet for his Cabinet colleagues scheduled for 13 October, as a "casual" meeting over meals.

“There is no agenda other than food,” he said.

Earlier, Siddaramaiah had also downplayed the meeting.

"It's been a long time since I invited the ministers for a meal, so I've called them just for that. The dinner has no connection with the Cabinet reshuffle,” he said on Thursday.
