BMTC bus mows down girl crossing road in Bengaluru

A BMTC bus fatally hit a nine-year-old girl in Rajajinagar, while another bus crashed near Chinnaswamy Stadium after its driver suffered a seizure.

A nine-year-old girl was killed after being run over by a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus in the city on Saturday, police said.


The deceased has been identified as Bhuvana.


According to police, the incident occurred near Panchajanya Vidya Peeta School in Rajajinagar when the girl, along with her two sisters, was crossing the road. She was allegedly hit by the BMTC bus and sustained severe head injuries.


She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead, a senior police officer said.


Following the incident, the bus driver fled the scene. Police said efforts are on to trace and arrest him.


A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.


Meanwhile, in another incident, a BMTC electric bus was involved in a chain collision in front of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium after the driver reportedly suffered a seizure while driving.


The bus went out of control and rammed into several cars and two-wheelers, officials said. No injuries were reported. The driver was taken to the hospital and is said to be out of danger.
