State Housing Minister Zameer Ahmad Khan, has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of failing to construct any houses during its time in power, as the Congress-led government aims to distribute 2.3 lakh houses by December 2026. During recent review meetings with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Ahmad emphasised the ongoing commitment to housing despite financial challenges, stating, “It may be difficult to allocate funds for the poor, but no matter the hardship, I will provide money for housing.”

He reaffirmed that last year, the government completed 36,790 houses and plans to increase this number to 42,000 this year. Ahmad remarked, “The BJP says the government is bankrupt, but if we were bankrupt, would we be able to implement projects on this scale?” Highlighting the difference in governance, he noted that over one lakh houses were built during Siddaramaiah's previous term, contrasting it with the BJP's record of “not constructing even a single house.”

Additionally, the State cabinet has increased the housing quota for minority communities from 10 per cent to 15 per cent, reinforcing the government's focus on social welfare and support for the underprivileged.
