‘Rampant corruption’: Karnataka’s Lokayukta raids 6 RTO offices in City

Lokayukta teams led by senior judges inspected six Bengaluru RTOs simultaneously after receiving credible corruption complaints to ensure transparency in public service.

Acting on credible information about “rampant corruption”, the Karnataka Lokayukta on Friday launched surprise searches at six Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) across the City, the agency said in a statement.


Justice BS Patil, Hon’ble Lokayukta, issued six search warrants and formed teams comprising Judicial and Police Officers to carry out the simultaneous inspections from 1pm.


Justice Patil visited the RTO offices at Yeshwanthpura (North) and Rajajinagar (West) at 3 pm, while Justice KN Phaneendra, Upalokayukta-1, inspected the Jayanagar (South) and Yelahanka offices. Justice B Veerappa, Upalokayukta-2, visited the Kasthurinagar (East) and KR Puram RTOs, the statement added.


The coordinated operation marks a major move by the Lokayukta Institution to tackle corruption and ensure transparency in public offices.
