IT major Infosys, in collaboration with NIMHANS, on Monday unveiled ‘Wellness Matters: Mental Health First Aider Training Manual’, a guide to help employees spot early distress signs, provide peer support, and connect colleagues with professional help.
The initiative aims to promote mental wellness and psychological safety across workplaces.
“The manual covers self-awareness, self-care, understanding mental health conditions, addressing substance-use issues, and basic counselling skills. It trains staff to identify early distress and offer appropriate assistance,” Infosys said in a statement.
Using a cascade model, certified trainers will share this learning within their teams, embedding a sustained culture of mental well-being. The company said all its HR professionals in India have been trained as Mental Health First Aiders, building a frontline support system across the organisation.
The manual is the outcome of a year-long collaboration between the Infosys wellness team and NIMHANS. Developed through focus group discussions, it integrates insights from psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and public health experts to strengthen workplace mental health practices.
