State government has moved to fast-track the training and certification of nursing and healthcare staff seeking employment in Germany, with Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation (KVTSDC) signing an MoU on Thursday with the Deutsche Fachkräfteagentur für Gesundheits- und Pflegeberufe GmbH (DeFa).
The agreement paves the way for a new The European Language Certificates (telc) German language examination centre at the Karnataka German Technical Training Institute (KGTTI) in Peenya, Bengaluru.
The centre will serve as a key link in preparing candidates, mainly nurses, for migration, offering structured German language training and a clear pathway to secure the B2 proficiency level required for registered nursing roles in Germany. DeFa, set up by the German Federal Ministry of Health, oversees the recruitment of international healthcare workers, while telc exams, aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), provide globally recognised certification needed for study, work and residence in Germany.
Skill Development and Medical Education Minister Dr Sharanprakash R Patil said the initiative would help Karnataka’s healthcare professionals meet Germany’s linguistic standards.
At the Bengaluru Tech Summit, Patil also proposed developing an “AI Grid” to map and train workforce segments in Artificial Intelligence.
