Bengaluru, 13 Dec

Grammy Award-winning musician Ricky Kej has alleged that his Bengaluru home was targeted in a theft by a food delivery partner, an incident he shared publicly to warn others and seek accountability.

Taking to Instagram, Kej posted CCTV footage and screenshots claiming that a Zomato delivery partner stole a sump cover from his residence on Thursday evening. The footage, recorded around 6 pm, allegedly shows the individual entering the premises, lifting the cover and fleeing on a two-wheeler. Kej suggested the act appeared premeditated, noting that the person had visited the area earlier.

“I was robbed! Dear @zomato @zomatodeliverypartner, looks like one of your delivery partners entered my home on Thursday and stole our sump cover. This was at 6 p.m. Quite bold of them! This is probably not their first time. They came in just 15 minutes earlier for a recce, and then trespassed and committed the crime. You can see the CCTV footage from 2 angles,” he wrote.

The musician also shared images of the alleged suspect and the vehicle’s number plate. Tagging Bengaluru City Police, Kej appealed for assistance and urged citizens to remain cautious.

“Also, people, be vigilant. This can happen to you, too!” he added.

The post quickly went viral, drawing concern and support from followers. One user commented, “My goodness. How brazen is that? Hope you get justice, Ricky,” while another said, “This is so bad. Hope the police can trace the folks who did. Very unfortunate.”

While police action is awaited, the food delivery platform responded publicly, apologising and promising an internal investigation.

“Hi Ricky, this is really concerning, and we certainly don't encourage such behaviour from our delivery partners. We'll investigate this immediately so that necessary action can be taken,” the company said.

Kej has asked the platform to contact him for further cooperation in the probe.
