Bengaluru, 18 Feb

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has issued a stern warning to BJP MLAs and leaders, stating that if they obstruct garbage disposal in the City, garbage will be dumped in front of their houses.

“Behave yourself, or else we will take strict action under the Essential Services Act. We will dump garbage in front of the houses of those BJP MLAs and leaders who obstruct garbage disposal,” he declared at the KPCC office.

Asked about obstruction at Mahadevapura, Shivakumar said, “MLAs are blackmailing for funds while objecting to disposing of waste in their constituency.

Arvind Limbavali and Doddaballapura MLA Dheeraj Muniraju have blackmailed us. If they keep objecting, where do we dispose of the garbage? We will have to send it to the homes of R Ashoka, Vijayendra or the BJP party office.”

He further explained, “We need to dispose of garbage somewhere. We are continuing to do so in the same places as before. They are blackmailing us to get funds for their constituencies.” On waste truck accidents, he stated, “Accidents should not happen, law will take its course. But garbage disposal can’t be stopped. Waste is being disposed of in the constituencies of ST Somashekar, Shivanna and Krishna Byregowda too.”

Shivakumar added that two more disposal sites had been purchased and tenders called, with a decision pending legal clearance.

Regarding contractors threatening to halt work over alleged increased commissions, he said, “Ask them to file a complaint. The BJP government had called tenders worth Rs 30,000-40,000 crores, despite a Rs 10,000 crore budget. How can this be resolved now?”
