Assistant director of ‘Emily in Paris’ dies during filming

Diego Borella, assistant director of Emily in Paris, died suddenly on set in Venice, prompting the suspension of the show’s season five filming.

VENICE, 24 AUG


Diego Borella, a 47-year-old assistant director, tragically died while filming the fifth season of ‘Emily in Paris’ in Venice.


According to La Repubblica, he collapsed in front of colleagues at the Hotel Danieli around 19.00 local time.


Despite the immediate response of the show's medical staff, Borella was pronounced dead at the scene.


A spokesperson for Paramount Television Studios stated, "We are deeply saddened to confirm the sudden passing of a member of the 'Emily in Paris' production family," adding, “Our hearts go out to the individual's family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”


Filming has reportedly been temporarily suspended following this incident.


The series, which stars Lily Collins, is set to return later this year.
