A woman from Jadcherla in Telangana’s Mahabubnagar district allegedly found a small snake inside a veg puff she had bought from a local bakery, prompting a police complaint and an investigation by authorities.

According to police, the incident occurred on 12 August when the woman, identified as Srisaila, purchased the snack from an Iyengar Bakery outlet in Jadcharla municipality. On returning home and opening the puff to share with her children, she was shocked to find the reptile inside.

She confronted the bakery owner, who allegedly responded with dismissive explanations instead of offering an apology. The woman subsequently lodged a complaint with local police.

The incident has raised concerns over food safety and hygiene standards in the area, officials said, adding that a probe is underway.
