A passenger aboard a Varanasi-bound Air India Express flight from the City attempted to access the cockpit mid-air while searching for the lavatory, prompting an immediate investigation by the airline.

Air India Express stated, "We are aware of reports of an incident on one of our flights to Varanasi, where a passenger approached the cockpit entry area while looking for the lavatory. We reaffirm that robust safety and security protocols are in place and were not compromised."

Upon landing, the situation was reported to the relevant authorities. In Varanasi, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel detained the man and his eight companions, all of whom are residents of Bengaluru and were en route to Varanasi for a pilgrimage.
