New Delhi/ Bengaluru, 15 Dec

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said on Monday that he will request more time from the Delhi police to appear before them next week, to provide information in connection with the National Herald case.

He said he will seek a slot after the winter session of the Karnataka legislature, which ends on 19 December. “I will also ask the Delhi police to provide me a copy of the FIR,” he added.

Shivakumar, who is in New Delhi, had earlier said that he would appear before the Delhi police on Monday. But he postponed the plan to rush back to Karnataka to attend the last rites of veteran Congress leader Shamanuru Shivashankarappa, scheduled later in the day at Davangere.

The Delhi Police had issued a notice to Shivakumar seeking transaction details in connection with the National Herald case.

In the notice dated 29 November, the EOW had asked Shivakumar to appear before it or provide the requested information by 19 December.

Investigators have sought details of the funds allegedly transferred by him or associated entities to ‘Young Indian.’
