Bengaluru, December 17
A woman has been booked for allegedly harassing a police inspector attached to Ramamurthy Nagar Police Station here, repeatedly calling and messaging him and threatening to end her life if he did not accept her marriage proposal, police said on Wednesday.
In his complaint, the 45-year-old inspector alleged that the woman began contacting him from multiple unknown numbers on October 30, speaking incoherently and claiming close links with senior leaders, including the Chief Minister, 'Deputy Chief Minister' and 'Home Minister'. She allegedly sent photographs on WhatsApp to support her claims and warned of using her “influence” against him if he rejected her proposal.
Police said the inspector advised her to submit any grievance in writing at the police station. However, she continued to call and message him, disrupting his official duties.
On November 7, the woman allegedly visited his office and handed over tablets identified as ‘Nexito Plus’ along with letters purportedly written in blood, raising concerns about her mental state.
Despite being informed that the number she was calling was an official departmental line, she allegedly persisted with the harassment. Police said a preliminary inquiry revealed that she had displayed similar behaviour towards other officials in the past.
On December 12, she reportedly visited the police station again, shouting and threatening to commit suicide and damage the inspector’s career if he did not respond to her demands. Following this, the inspector lodged a formal complaint, based on which a case was registered.
