Nearly a month after being granted bail, C.N Chinnaiah, the complainant in the Dharmasthala case who was arrested on charges of perjury, is set to be released from Shivamogga Central Prison on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Chinnaiah’s wife, Mallika, appeared before the Senior Civil Judge and JMFC court in Belthangady to comply with the bail conditions. She executed a personal bond of ₹1 lakh and produced two sureties, following which the court issued the release order. The order was communicated to the prison authorities later in the evening.
The Principal District and Sessions Court in Dakshina Kannada had allowed Chinnaiah’s bail plea on November 24. As part of the conditions imposed, the court barred him from speaking to the press, television channels, social media platforms or any other form of media in connection with the case.
Further legal proceedings in the matter are expected to continue.
