Mysuru farmers advised to take up bivoltine silkworm rearing

Joint Director of Sericulture Prathibha HR stressed the significance of bivoltine silkworm rearing, mechanisation, wider mulberry spacing, and optimal use of government subsidies to boost cocoon quality and productivity.
She inaugurated Reshme Divas, A Day with Farmers at CSB-CSRTI campus on Wednesday, urging participants to utilise technical sessions on improved mulberry variety AGB-8, integrated pest management, organic fertilisers, and drip fertigation.
CSB member BS Nanjundaswamy highlighted occupational health hazards in sericulture, while Deputy Director HC Nagendrappa detailed free input distribution and new disease management technologies.
Farmers interacted with scientists on pest control, mulberry spacing, cocoon pricing, and hybrid adaptability. CSRTI Director Dayananda encouraged adoption of climate-resilient silkworm hybrids. Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to six farmers for exemplary bivoltine practices
