Jaipur, 26 Dec

Three people, including the CEO of a private IT company, have been arrested for the alleged gangrape of a woman manager after a birthday party in Rajasthan’s Udaipur, police said on Friday.

The accused CEO, identified as Jitesh Sisodia, had organised a birthday party last Saturday, which was attended by the complainant, a manager at the firm. The other two accused are a female executive head of the company and her husband, Gaurav Sirohi, a resident of Meerut.

All three were arrested on Thursday and produced before a court, which remanded them to four days of police custody.

“The accused were arrested following the registration of a case at Sukher police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. They were produced before a court on Thursday and sent on a four-day police remand,” Udaipur Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal said.

According to the woman’s complaint, she was left alone at the venue as other guests gradually departed after the party. The female executive head later offered to drop her home and took her in her car, which also had Sisodia and Sirohi seated inside.

During the journey, the accused allegedly purchased a substance resembling cigarettes from a shop and offered it to the woman. She claimed that she lost consciousness after consuming it.

The woman said she regained consciousness the following morning and realised she had been sexually assaulted. Based on her complaint, a case was registered and the accused were detained for questioning before being formally arrested, police said.

Officials added that the woman’s medical examination was conducted and her statement recorded. The case has now been handed over to Additional Superintendent of Police Madhuri Verma for further investigation.
