The JD(S) hit back at Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who had earlier threatened to file a defamation case against HD Kumaraswamy when a reporter said the Union Minister claimed that the Bengaluru Minister wanted to meet Home Minister Amit Shah because of an internal struggle within the Congress.

Shivakumar however later found out that the Kumaraswamy never made the statement and issued cautioned the press against making false statements to provoke responses.

However, the JD(S) X handle slammed Shivakumar, saying “You're the fool who gives idiotic answers to questions from the media.”

“Looking at your words, your choice of language, one can gauge what level your mental health is at. This is one reason why the people of Karnataka are afraid of you,” the post read. “Did Kumaraswamy even make that statement about you? Prove it…. When you're done talking, there's another shloka to recite: "A tongue without propriety, abandon your lowly wit, oh tongue"; first, read and understand these simple words spoken by the poet.”

Shivakumar’s team had requested media houses not to air the objectionable portion from the press conference and said, "The Dy CM expressed deep dissatisfaction over the media giving such wrong information and receiving such a response when asking questions. One should not create false information and ask false questions."
