BENGALURU, 22 MAY
Senior Congress leader Iqbal Ahmed Saradgi, 80, the last Muslim Member of Parliament since 2004 from Karnataka died on Wednesday at Kalaburagi private hospital.
Iqbal Ahmed, 80,
represented Kalaburgi constituency twice and he died due to age-related
illness. The funeral prayer (Namaz e Janaza) was held at a local masjid near
Haft Gumbaz. All India Congress Committee President Mallikharjun Kharge, Chief
Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar offered their
condolences.

Kharge said, “Deeply pained by the passing away of my dear friend. Iqbal
championed the cause of welfare for all and in this hour of grief my heartfelt
condolences to his family, friends and followers.”
Deputy Chief
Minister DK Sivakumar also expressed his condolences. "Sad to hear the
news of the death of the senior leader of our party. Sardagi was a prominent
leader of Kalyan Karnataka segment and served as a member of Lok Sabha and
Vidhan Parishad.”
Born to Mohammed
Ahmed Saradagi and Gauhar Begam on 5 June, 1944, Saradagi got his Bachelor of
Arts degree from Government Arts and Science College in Gulbarga and his Law
degree from Osmania University, Hyderabad. -Salar News
