BENGALURU, 2 AUG
Around 10,000 people will
participate daily during the eight-day ‘Mysuru Chalo’ padayatra carried out by
BJP and JD(S) from 3 to 10 August, said State BJP President and MLA BY
Vijayendra on Friday.
The padayatra will be launched by
former chief minister and BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa, and JD(S) President and
Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy, Vijayendra said at BJP’s State office, Jagannath
Bhawan, in Malleswaram. The padayatra will start from Manjunatha Convention
Hall near Kempamma Devi Temple in Kengeri at 8.30am and end on 10 August at
MUDA office in Mysuru. NDA launched the padayatra against alleged ‘corruption
scandals’ of State government and it will cover Bengaluru, Ramanagara, Mandya
and Mysuru.
Vijayendra said: “Congress
government, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, is corrupt and anti-poor. There
is a development vacuum under their rule and they failed Scheduled
Communities.” Vijayendra urged that the Chief Minister should ensure justice
for all 101 castes.
Criticising the Congress government
for holding a Cabinet meeting without the Chief Minister, Vijayendra said it
was an attempt to evade addressing the Governor's notice regarding the MUDA
site allotment scam.
Vijayendra called Deputy Chief
Minister DK Shivakumar "the father of corruption" and demanded
accountability from him and Siddaramaiah for scams.
Hitting back at the allegations
raised by Vijayendra, Shivakumar said, "There is no meaning or purpose for
the padayatra. They are going to expose their scams by doing this padayatra.
Let them raise corruption issues if they have happened during our tenure. The
BJP government was known as the most corrupt government in the history of the
State. We will ask them 3-4 questions every day about their scams and injustice
to Karnataka in the Union budget, let them answer." -Salar News
