Kollegal Town police have
apprehended a man for allegedly murdering his sister and attacking his father
and sister-in-law following a heated argument over a trivial matter concerning
the feeding of cucumbers to his baby. The incident occurred at Idgah Mohalla in
Kollegal town, situated in Chamarajanagar district.
According to the police, the
accused, Syed Farman, 30, is alleged to have killed his sister, Iman Banu, 23.
On Wednesday night, a dispute erupted between Iman Banu and Syed regarding the
appropriateness of feeding cucumbers to his niece, who was unwell with a fever.
After being reprimanded by his sister, Syed, in a fit of rage, fetched a sharp
knife from the kitchen and fatally stabbed Iman Banu.
When his sister-in-law, Tasleema
Taj, and their father, Syed Pasha, intervened to help, the accused also
attacked them with the knife, resulting in a broken left hand for his father.
Neighbours, coming to the victims' aid, managed to confine the accused within a
room and subsequently alerted the police. Syed Pasha and Tasleema Taj are
currently receiving treatment at Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences
Hospital. Following a post-mortem examination, Iman Banu's body was returned to
her relatives. An investigation is ongoing.
