KALABURAGI, 13 MARCH
In Maragutti
village, Kamalapur Taluk, Kalaburagi district, a Gram Panchayat member has been
accused of sexual harassment by a woman seeking assistance for government
housing. The incident involves Neelakanta Rathod, who allegedly propositioned
the woman after she requested a house.
Reports indicate
Rathod told the woman, "I will arrange for a house through the Panchayat,
but you must sleep with me. If you can’t come, at least send your
daughter." This shocking demand prompted the woman, a resident of
Malasapura village, to file a complaint at the Kamalapur police station.
Rathod reportedly demanded money for the housing arrangement, which she said she could not afford. Following her allegations, police have registered a case against him under sections 75, 78, and 79 of the BNS Act and have commenced an investigation. Rathod was elected to the Maragutti Panchayat from Malasapura village, and the community is awaiting the outcome of the police inquiry.
