Kolar, 16 June

Unidentified miscreants looted over Rs 27 lakh from an ATM near Sarige Nagar under Gulpet police limits in the early hours of Monday.

According to police, a gang of four to five arrived in a car around 4.30 am. They sprayed pepper spray on the ATM’s CCTV camera and one person, covering himself with a bedsheet, gained entry into the booth. Using a grass cutter, they cut open the ATM and decamped with the cash.

The visuals from the CCTV cameras were blurred due to the spray, leaving investigators with little to identify the suspects. The car’s number plate was also not clearly visible.

Kolar Superintendent of Police B Nikhil, who visited the scene, said a special team would be formed to track down the culprits and expressed confidence in their swift arrest.

The Gulpet police have registered a case based on a complaint by ATM Channel Executive Ramanjalu and are continuing investigations.
