IMD forecasts heavy rain for coastal K’taka, light showers in the City

The IMD has also predicted heavy rains on Monday for Bidar, Kalburgi, Raichur, and Yadgir districts in north interior Karnataka.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall across parts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts over the next 24 hours.

 

 

On Sunday, Hangaloru in Udupi district recorded the highest rainfall at 92mm, while Gadag district followed closely with 77.1mm, marking it the third highest rainfall tally for July to date. Notably, Gadag witnessed 89.7mm in 2005 and 87.1mm in 2022, with the all-time record standing at 136.4mm on 29 September, 1960.

 

 

In Bengaluru, the forecast indicates rainfall ranging from 4 to 10mm for the Greater Bengaluru area on Monday, after the city received 6.5mm of rain on Sunday. Renjala (73.5mm) and Hakladi (70mm) are among other locations in Udupi district that experienced significant rainfall over the weekend.

 

 

The IMD has also predicted heavy rains on Monday for Bidar, Kalburgi, Raichur, and Yadgir districts in north interior Karnataka. Meanwhile, regions in south interior Karnataka, including parts of Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Hassan, Shivamogga, Mandya, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Ballari, Chikkaballapura, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Kolar, and Vijayanagara, are expected to see heavy rainfall as well.
