A 21-year-old Bachelor of Arts student ended her life on Friday night in Guledgud, Bagalkot, due to ragging. The victim, a sixth-semester student, was found hanged at her home in Haradolli hobli.
In a suicide note discovered in her room, the student explicitly named classmates Varsha, Pradeep, and others, alleging their ragging had made her life "hell" and "destroyed her mind." She pleaded with the authorities not to spare those responsible, hoping to prevent similar tragedies for other students.
Guledgud Police Inspector KV Banni confirmed the deceased was a student of Bhandari College in Guledgud town. He stated that those named in the note have been questioned regarding the serious allegations. The college management is also being investigated for its apparent lack of awareness regarding the banned practice within its institution. The victim's mother works as a midday meal staff member, cooking for students.
