Six individuals have been arrested in connection with an attack on YouTubers on 6 August near Pangala Cross, Dharmasthala, in the State. A case has been filed against the accused, identified as Padmaprasad, 32, Suhas, 22, Khalandar Puttumonu, 42, Chetan, 21, Shashidhar, 30, and Guruprasad, 19, for obstructing police officers on duty under Crime No. 47/2025. They were granted interim bail on 9 August, with a court appearance scheduled for 11 August.
Meanwhile, two new informants approached the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating claims of mass burials of alleged victims of murder and sexual assault at Dharmasthala, stating they witnessed a body being buried. Ongoing excavations at various locations have yielded skeletal remains at Points 6 and 10, but no discoveries at a recent site.
BJP MLA SR Vishwanath condemned the situation, stating, "Some people are trying to gain attention by spreading lies... This has hurt Hindus across the country." Former deputy chief minister KS Eshwarappa echoed his sentiments, asserting that there is a deliberate attempt to insult the Hindu community, demanding a thorough investigation into the matter. “The State must find out who is behind this,” he added.
