Work begins on Rs 48.32 crore district complex in Bidar

The long-pending demand for a modern District Administrative Complex in
Bidar is finally taking shape, with construction officially launched on
Saturday. Forest, Ecology and Environment Minister and Bidar District In-Charge
Minister Eshwar B Khandre, along with Municipal Administration Minister Rahim
Khan, performed a pooja at the site of the old Deputy Commissioner’s office to
mark the commencement of work.
The Rs 48.32 crore five-storey complex will be built on 5.275 acres.
Minister Khandre noted that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had laid the foundation
stone on 16 April.
The first phase will see construction of eight office blocks, with the
rest to follow in the second phase. Khandre also announced plans for a sports
stadium and emphasised efforts to secure more grants following Bidar’s
elevation to Municipal Corporation status.
Minister Rahim Khan added that Rs 200 crore has been requested for the Corporation, with plans to appoint an IAS officer and recruit 400 staff.
